Summer Special Teams: Fresh features for your meetings

We are pleased to introduce two exciting new features for Microsoft Teams that will optimise your meeting presentations: a floating presenter toolbar and one-click optimisation for smooth video playback.

Freely movable toolbar

Revolutionary presentation features: Microsoft Teams now gives you the ability to freely move the presenter toolbar during a screen share. This customisability ensures that you always have important screen areas in view without the toolbar getting in the way.

Video optimisation with one click

With the new "Optimise" button, you can manually improve the playback of videos and other motion-intensive content. This function ensures that your content is displayed smoothly even if automatic video detection does not work.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Start screen sharing: Start your Teams meeting and select the "Share" option in the toolbar.

2. Move toolbar: Drag the Presenter toolbar from its default position at the top of the screen to any position on your screen. To do this, simply click on the new drag handle or a non-interactive area of the toolbar.

Note: The toolbar minimises after 4 seconds of inactivity, but continues to display a red badge to indicate the current sharing session.

3. Optimise video: Click on the "Optimise" button in the toolbar to ensure smoother playback.

Availability and activation

These features are available to members of Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Target Release Teams and require the new Teams client for Windows or macOS. Other meeting participants do not need to be Public Preview members.

Activation:

• IT administrators must activate the "Show preview features" option in their update policy.
• Global administrators can grant targeted access in the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre.
