New team: Faster, simpler and more flexible
Microsoft Teams has evolved and presents itself in a completely new light. Those who already know Teams will quickly appreciate the changes. For all newcomers, it's the perfect time to jump in. Here you can find out everything you need to know about the latest version.
What's new?
Performance enhancement: The new team was developed with a "performance-first" mindset. This means not only faster performance, but also more efficient battery and memory consumption.
- Intuitive use: Fewer clicks are required to start and navigate. The new design makes it faster to switch between apps, reply to chats instantly, and join meetings without delay.
- Familiarity: Despite the many new features, the layout remains largely familiar. This means existing users can still find their way around with ease.
Features at a glance
- Multi-instance accounts: Log in to multiple accounts without constantly switching between web browsers. Get real-time notifications, participate in chats and meetings across multiple accounts, and set individual status messages for each account.
- Switch between classic and new teams: The switch to the new team is not final. You can return to the classic mode at any time, if desired.
- Help and feedback: In the new Teams, you can easily access help articles, videos, and news. Your feedback is also very welcome to further improve the Teams experience.
How can you test the new team?
Open the Teams desktop app on your Windows device. Look for the "Try new Teams" toggle in the top left corner. Follow the instructions to install them. Note: The minimum system requirements are Windows 10 Vibranium 10.0.19041 and Microsoft Teams version 1.5.00.29212 or later.
Switch back to the classic team
If you want to get used to the new version and occasionally return to the classic version, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Go to the top of Teams, where the search and navigation pane is usually located.
- There you should see a toggle or option called "New Teams".
- Disable this switch by clicking on it or toggling it.
After you disable the "New Teams" button, switch back to the classic Teams interface. Please note that the user interface and features may differ between the classic and new Teams versions, and some features may only be available in the new version. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the differences when you switch between the two versions.
Still in the pipeline
Some functions of the classic team are not yet available in the new version. Updates for this will be released regularly under Microsoft Introduction.
