Virtual. Versatile. Windows 365
Windows 365: Microsoft's cloud PC for business
Since August 2021, Microsoft has expanded its offering with Windows 365 to include a cloud PC. But what exactly does this mean for companies? Here is a detailed overview:
What is Windows 365?
Windows 365, originally called "Project Deschutes," is an operating system run in the cloud. Instead of installing Windows locally, it runs in Microsoft's Azure cloud and is displayed via a browser or a special app on almost any end device.
Target group: Companies in focus
Microsoft originally had private individuals in mind, but that changed with the rise of home offices and hybrid work models due to the Corona crisis. Now the offerings are aimed primarily at companies. With Windows 365, employees can access their work environment flexibly and regardless of location.
Security
A central concern is security. Microsoft guarantees secure transmission and offers extensive security tools, especially for companies that often work with sensitive data.
Data storage in the cloud
Programs, data and settings are in the cloud with Windows 365. Even if the device in use is lost or stolen, all data remains secure and can be accessed from another device.
Access options
Access to the cloud PC is via the windows365.microsoft.com or cloudpc.microsoft.com websites. Alternatively, access is possible via the Windows 365 app or Microsoft Remote Desktop.
